1,300 Filipinos Run for Change in FundLife’s ‘Move for Equity’ Campaign to Advocate for Gender Equity and Girls’ Safe Spaces

Over 1,300 Filipinos joined FundLife’s Move for Equity campaign this March, collectively running 130,000 kilometers to support girls’ rights and gender equity. FundLife, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized children through education, sport, and safe spaces, launched the campaign in collaboration with Girls Got This and ON Running to raise awareness about the barriers girls face in accessing safe spaces, education, and dignified work.

The campaign’s theme, “Move for Every Girl Who Can’t,” encouraged participants to transform their physical activity into solidarity for girls’ empowerment. In a true testament to community-driven action, participants committed to running or walking at least 3.8 kilometers each day, symbolizing their commitment to breaking down the obstacles that hinder girls’ access to opportunity and safety.

The movement reached its peak on March 9, 2025, with events nationwide. In Tacloban, 203 individuals, including local running groups and government representatives, participated in the Move for Equity Community Run at the Old Leyte Provincial Capitol. On the same day, 480 participants gathered in Makati for the Community #Move event at Ayala Avenue, celebrating International Women’s Day and calling for gender equity.

“Move for Equity is not just about running — it’s about creating communities where every girl feels seen, safe, and unstoppable,” said Marko Kasic, Executive Director of FundLife. “Through play, sport, and education, we are unlocking opportunities where they are needed most, and creating a future where every child can dream boldly.”

The impact of the campaign extended beyond the physical activity of participants. Almost 375,000 social media engagements highlighted the momentum of the movement, driven by the participation of 22 influencers who shared their journeys and reflections, inspiring their followers to join the cause.

‘Move for Equity’ Project Ambassador Dana Lora, a renowned strength and conditioning specialist and active participant in the running community, completed the full 3.8 km challenge daily, capturing the spirit of the campaign: “I moved every day for every girl still waiting for her chance. Move for Equity reminded me that movement is power — and when we move with purpose, we move for each other.”

The success of the campaign was amplified through strategic media partnerships with 91.1 Love Radio, SJTV Tacloban, 98.3 Magik FM, and 104.7 Dream Radio SIKAT, ensuring that the message reached a wide audience. These media collaborations helped drive engagement and spread awareness about the importance of gender equity and safe spaces for girls.

Having successfully completed Move for Equity, FundLife is now preparing for its next major initiative. In June, the organization will launch Move for Play, a celebration of the UN Day of Play, inviting individuals to run, move, and advocate for every child’s right to dream, play, and thrive. Move for Play, like Move for Equity, is part of FundLife’s ongoing Move series, which encourages individuals to take action through sport, not for personal achievement, but for a greater purpose. “The ‘Move’ series—Move for Peace, Move for Equity, Move for Life, and Move for Play—invites people to run for something meaningful,” said Kasic. “It’s a movement that transcends sport, rooted in solidarity, resilience, and hope.”

Kasic, a former non-runner turned ultramarathoner, founded FundLife in 2014 with the goal of using sport as a tool for social change. Since its inception, the organization has delivered community-based programs that create safe spaces and empower girls through sport and education, with a focus on providing consistent access to opportunity and protection that remain out of reach for many.

Fundlife’s latest Move for Equity campaign seeks to raise awareness and mobilize support for girls who continue to face barriers to opportunity. By encouraging mass participation and brand support, the campaign invites individuals to take part in a collective act of solidarity with those confronting adversity—aligning movement with a broader social purpose.
