Dennis Anthony H. Uy is set to take the level of discourse on digital connectivity and transformation to another level, as he chairs the 51st Philippine Business Conference in October this year.
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) announced his appointment today following the adoption of a resolution and unanimous approval of his nomination during the first PCCI Board Meeting held in January this year.
“We are honored he (Dennis Uy) accepted our invitation to lead the conference this year. He will be ably guided and supported by the Conference Organizing Committee in implementing his plans and agenda for the conference,” PCCI President Enunina V. Mangio said.
“I am honored to be appointed by the country’s biggest business group as Chairman of this conference. This annual gathering of industry leaders is a crucial time to exchange ideas, drive innovation, and shape the future of Philippine business. Moreover, it’s the chance to interface with the government, which has always been a staunch partner of ours. I look forward to meaningful dialogue and discussion that will move our nation forward,” Uy said.
Uy, who is also the Director for PCCI IT and Telco, said the conference agenda will focus on digital transformation of the country, especially the connectivity for small businesses and every household in the country.
“I have always believed that access to quality connectivity is not a privilege of a few, but a necessity for all. We must take discussions on digital transformation seriously because, by 2030, the entire world will be digitally connected. The Philippines needs to leap-frog and embrace technological advancements that will ultimately uplift the lives of many. But before we get there, we need to address the foundation, which is connectivity for all, no matter where they are or their demographic. We must make sure we leave no one behind,” Uy said.
Uy looks forward to meeting and working with concerned government agencies in crafting policy recommendations that support digital transformation and infrastructure, leading to the actual conference.
As he steered his telco business to dominance in the ICT industry in 2007, Uy solidified his standing as a competent businessman. Uy had also been a “self-made industrialist.” He started with a Betamax and VHS rental shop in Pampanga that has then evolved into a cable television business. He has made his mark in the industry by introducing the first-ever data-over cable service in Central Luzon, under ComClark Network and Technology Corporation.
In 2024, Uy gained recognition from PCCI, the largest business organization in the country, as a driving force in ICT, and was awarded the ‘Nation-Builder’ Award. Under his leadership, he has expanded nationwide, bringing the digital divide and strengthening the country’s ICT infrastructure.
