Continuing their annual tradition of giving back to communities, the leaders of Sun Life Philippines, led by Benedict Sison, Sun Life Philippines CEO and Country Head and Sun Life Foundation Chairman, actively participated in a volunteer drive with the Tumana Eco-Warriors Organization (TEWO) in Tumana, Marikina.
The initiative, which was a collaboration between Sun Life Financial-Philippines Foundation, Inc. (Sun Life Foundation) and its implementing partner, ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. (AFI), kicked off with a cleanup of the Tumana Linear Park. Demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship, the executives diligently collected and disposed of the litter on the ground.
This was followed by a doll-making activity where the Tumana Eco-Warriors, an organization committed to protecting nature, taught the Sun Life leaders how to make plush toys called Huggable Dolls using sustainable materials. The dolls were later donated to children enrolled at the Concepcion Integrated School, which served as the venue for the activity.
The volunteer drive concluded with Sun Life’s donation of hydration packs to TEWO. These essential supplies will support the eco-warriors in their efforts to maintain and care for the Tumana Linear Park.
“Volunteerism is a big part of Sun Life’s culture,” said Kristine Dianne Millete, Executive Director of the Sun Life Foundation. “Our volunteer drives would not be successful without the unwavering support of our fellow Sun Lifers and our partner organizations. Together, we aim to build a brighter future for more Filipinos.”
As the philanthropic arm of Sun Life Philippines, the first and longest-standing life insurance company in the country, Sun Life Foundation organizes volunteer drives that hundreds of Sun Life leaders, employees, and advisors join. In celebration of its 130th anniversary, Sun Life remains committed to shining brighter together with the communities it serves.
