In an era where leadership is tested by crisis, change, and public accountability, media visionary Grace Bondad Nicolas once again proved the power of purposeful storytelling as she officially launched the inaugural “Leading Men” Awards under TopNewsAsia, one of the flagship print magazines of TAG Media Group. Other titles includes Rising Tigers, InCharge, Leading Women and EXQ. All are distributed in National Bookstores, Fullybooked, Shell, Total and Caltex.

Held on May 19, 2026 at the prestigious Okada Manila Chairman’s Lounge, the grand gathering became more than just an awards ceremony, it transformed into a celebration of patriotism, excellence, diplomacy, faith, and public service, bringing together some of the country’s most influential men in uniform, government, civic leadership, and religious communities.

As Publisher, President, and Editor-In-Chief of TopNewsAsia, Grace Bondad Nicolas spearheaded the event with a vision centered on honoring men whose leadership goes beyond power and position, individuals whose actions continue to strengthen the nation and inspire future generations.

“The first batch of awardees reflected the strength and diversity of leadership across the military, government, diplomatic corps, civic organizations, and religious communities. These are the leaders of this generation. Influential and Powerful,” Nicolas shared during the ceremony.

Under her leadership, TopNewsAsia has consistently highlighted stories of excellence, innovation, and nation-building. Through the launch of “Leading Men,” Nicolas expanded the magazine’s advocacy of recognizing changemakers whose influence shapes communities and national progress.

The inaugural roster of honorees reflected the very essence of service and leadership.

Among those recognized were Brigadier General Michael L. Romero for his dedication to reserve force development and patriotism, alongside Romeo S. Brawner Jr., represented during the event by Lieutenant General Arvin R. Lagamon, symbolizing the Armed Forces’ steadfast commitment to national security and peace.

The Philippine Army leadership under Lieutenant General Antonio G. Nafarrete was represented by Major General Christopher C. Tampus, while the Philippine Navy’s Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta was represented by Major General Edwin E. Amadar. Also honored were Lieutenant General Arthur M. Cordura, Lieutenant General Aristotle D. Gonzalez, and Lieutenant General Donald M. Gumiran for their strategic leadership in strengthening the country’s defense and security operations.

From the law enforcement sector, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. received recognition through Police Brigadier General Randy Ygay Arceo, highlighting the Philippine National Police’s continuing mission of public safety and community protection.

The diplomatic community also took center stage with the recognition of Ambassador Niyazi Evren Akyol for fostering stronger relations between Türkiye and the Philippines through diplomacy and cultural cooperation.

Public governance leaders honored during the evening included Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong for his reform-oriented governance and transparency initiatives, as well as Los Baños Mayor Neil Andrew Nocon for championing grassroots development and community-centered leadership.

Also recognized was Chairman George Erwin Mojica Garcia for his transformative leadership at the Commission on Elections and his efforts to strengthen electoral integrity and public trust in democratic institutions.

One of the evening’s most meaningful highlights was the recognition of Deputy Executive Minister Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, whose inclusion highlighted the vital role of faith and spiritual leadership in nation-building. His leadership within the Iglesia Ni Cristo reflects values of unity, discipline, humanitarian service, and hope.

The Association of Reservists and Reservist Administrators of the Philippines Incorporated was likewise honored for its contributions to reserve force empowerment and civic engagement, represented by Colonel Vladimir T. Mata and Colonel Jessica Anne Marguerrite Lacson-Hizon.

For many attendees, the launch of “Leading Men” symbolized the growing influence of media platforms that celebrate substance over spectacle. Through Grace Bondad Nicolas’ leadership, TopNewsAsia once again demonstrated that journalism and publishing can serve as instruments of inspiration, unity, and national pride.

More than recognizing accomplishments, the evening highlighted a deeper message: true leadership is measured not by rank or title, but by service, sacrifice, integrity, and the ability to uplift others.

As applause filled the Chairman’s Lounge and distinguished guests shared stories of service and dedication, one thing became evident, the inaugural “Leading Men” Awards was not merely an event, but the beginning.
