Studio Wildcard today unleashed a massive new update for ARK: Survival Ascended, introducing the mysterious shapeshifting Enigmasaur as the final creature in ARK: Fantastic Tames Season 1, along with a free, community-voted Giganotosaurus TLC overhaul, and a major upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.8 designed to bring improved visuals and performance to ARK.

Here is the Fantastic Tames ‘Enigmasaur’ spotlight trailer:

ARK: Fantastic Tames Season 1 is complete with the Enigmasaur, an extraordinary shapeshifter that doesn’t just imitate other creatures but actually becomes them! Capable of blending in so convincingly that even members of the species it mimics may be fooled, Enigmasaur can retain certain abilities learned from previous transformations. Imagine a Rex armed with a scorpion’s sting! Enigmasaur joins the previously released Burrowbuck and three-headed Cerberax as the third and final creature in the Fantastic Tames Season 1 bundle.

Here is the ASA Giga TLC update trailer:

The mighty Giganotosaurus returns with a fearsome new look, renewed ferocity, and a revamped taming challenge. Selected by the ARK community during Extra Life 2025, this free update marks the third creature TLC overhaul chosen by Survivor votes. Taming a Giga now requires more than tranquilizers and a safe vantage point, as Survivors must first prove themselves against some of ARK‘s fiercest threats before taking on a dangerous confrontation that will test both their strength and survival instincts. Once tamed, the Giga becomes a formidable ally with a powerful new foot-stomping, tail-slamming attack, plus the ability to share a measure of its ferocious fighting fury with nearby allies, rallying the entire tribe into battle. Just be careful not to stand in its way!

ARK: Survival Ascended also today received a major technical upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.8, introducing new rendering technologies designed to improve performance without sacrificing the game’s rich environments, including Nanite Voxels to deliver more efficient and realistic-looking foliage rendering, and Lumen Lite providing a more performant approach to dynamic lighting for low-end PC’s.

The annual Fear Ascended event is happening now until November 11th, bringing with it a fresh wave of ghostly creatures and plenty of new ways to get into the Halloween spirit. From eerie coffin-inspired furnishings and pumpkin decorations to some spooktastic plushies, there’s plenty to give your base a proper haunting makeover!

Looking ahead, ARK: Dragontopia continues its dragon-filled adventure with a major expansion arriving December 10, introducing an extraordinary new skyworld.  Available now, Dragontopia ($29.99) is an all-new premium expansion pass introducing Survivors to a vast aerial ecosystem where dragons rule the skies. To survive this new high-altitude frontier, you’ll need to grow through the Dragon Skill Trees, a new progression system built around strengthening your bond with these mythical beasts. Craft highly specialized gear and wield potent tools, and expand your base with a draconic tileset, incubator backpacks, and mysterious potion stations.
