DOST-ITDI Successfully Held Their 1st Innovation Conference (ICon)!

The Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) successfully held their innovation conference last December 1, 2022 at Acacia Hotel Alabang. The theme for the DOST-ITDI Innovation Conference(ICon) is “Unlocking Possibilities through Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI)”.

DOST-ITDI Director Dr. Annabelle V. Briones has discussed about the mandate and functions of ITDI and its programs and initiatives.

Here are the STI initiatives of DOST-ITDI:

1. Renewable/Alternative Energy

2. Consumer Safety and Protection

3. Disaster Preparedness

4. Food Security

5. Community Livelihood

The event has focused with five (5) very important and relevant topics. The first one which was about Renewable Energy was tacked by Mr. Gaspar Escobar Jr., division chief of DOE’s Renewable Energy Management Bureau. The second topic is about Consumer Protection and Safety which was discussed by DTI-BPS Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist Engr. Frankincense Macula.

The third topic which was discussed by FAO’s Socioeconomic & Sustainable Development Team Leader Ms. Maria Ruzella Quilla is about Food Security. Disaster Prepared, which is the fourth topic was tackled by Mr. Rey Martija, OIC-Director of DSWD-Disaster Response Management Bureau.

The fifth and final topic which is about Community Livelihood was discussed by League of Cities of the Philippines’ Deputy Director Broderick Sapnu.

The forum proper ended with a panel discussion and the event was concluded with the ITDI’s chorale singing the DOST Hymn.
