The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) paid a courtesy visit to Meralco to reaffirm and strengthen the long-standing collaboration between the country’s premier electric mobility organization and largest electric distribution utility. The meeting underscored a unified commitment to driving electric vehicle (EV) adoption and building a more sustainable transport future for the Philippines.

The EVAP delegation was led by Chairmen Ferdi Raquelsantos and Rommel Juan, along with President Edmund Araga and Directors John Lee, Ralph Legaspi, Carla Buencamino, and Jojo Conde. Together, they represented EVAP’s broad and diverse leadership, reflecting the association’s growing influence in shaping EV policy, infrastructure development, and industry collaboration nationwide.

Meralco hosted the EVAP board with a strong contingent of top executives headed by Ronnie L. Aperocho, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. He was joined by Ferdinand O. Geluz, Senior Vice-President and Chief Revenue Officer; Charina P. Padua, First Vice-President and Head of Customer Retail Services; Raymond B. Ravelo, First Vice-President and Chief Sustainability Officer of Meralco and President & CEO of Movem; Ralph M. Menchavez, Vice-President and Head of Commercial Strategy Management and Energy Solutions; and Mark Anthony T. Delumen, Assistant Vice-President and Regulatory Relations Manager.

The meeting highlighted the vital role of partnership between industry advocates like EVAP and energy providers like Meralco in enabling the country’s EV transition. Discussions centered on the need for an ecosystem-wide approach—one that unites manufacturers, fleet operators, charging providers, government agencies, and utilities to address barriers and accelerate momentum for EV adoption.

Both parties also emphasized the importance of aligning energy planning, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability programs to ensure that the expansion of EVs is supported by a stable, reliable, and future-ready power grid. EVAP and Meralco explored new areas of collaboration, particularly in organizing more EV conferences, technical forums, and high-level industry summits. These initiatives aim to enhance public education, elevate discussions on charging infrastructure, and advance national readiness for rising EV demand.

EVAP leaders commended Meralco for its pioneering work in sustainability and electrification, especially through Movem and its initiatives to deploy charging stations, enhance grid resilience, and promote clean-energy solutions. Meralco executives, in turn, reaffirmed their strong support for EVAP’s mission and expressed enthusiasm for deeper engagement with the EV industry through joint activities, technical cooperation, and policy dialogues.

Both organizations underscored that the global shift toward cleaner mobility presents a defining opportunity for the Philippines. By strengthening alliances between advocates and utilities, the country can accelerate its progress toward a competitive and sustainable EV ecosystem.

The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with Meralco and EVAP committing to craft and implement impactful programs that will push the industry forward. Through this renewed partnership, both organizations aim to lead the nation’s transformation toward a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable transport future—one electric vehicle at a time.
