Holcím Philippines celebrated with partners their continued success in delivering products safely, as the company and its haulers recorded driving 22 million kilometers without incident since 2017.

Holcím Philippines held its first-ever Drive Success Conference on May 22 at its Norzagaray, Bulacan Plant to recognize its 10 best-performing transporters and drivers in Luzon. The company will hold a similar activity in the third quarter for their partners in Mindanao.

The awardees were:

  • Giga RSB Road Trucking Services,
  • Peaksun Enterprise and Export Corp.,
  • Mega Transport,
  • Great Sierra Development Corp., and
  • Solid Supreme Development Corporation.

Representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment, Technical Education And Skills Development Authority, and municipal government joined the event in time for Road Safety Month in May.

Holcím Philippines Head of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Catherine Joy Guinto: “We thank our transporters, customers, and people for continuing to strengthen our health and safety culture. Our focus on road and traffic safety provides great value to our partners by keeping their people and operations away from harm so they can focus on growing their businesses. We are also proud of how our safety culture is contributing to progress by helping professionalize the hauling industry and keeping our roads safe.”

Continued investments in people and equipment are key to the company’s excellent road and traffic safety record. Since 2017, more than 2,200 truck drivers have completed the company’s required road safety training administered by TDC-Uyeno. Holcím Philippines
has also increased the installation of an In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS) that measures driving behavior such as speeding, harsh braking, and fatigue. The company’s Transport Analytics Centre (TAC) crunches the numbers to optimize routes for improvements
in safety, customer service, and logistics efficiency.

Holcím Philippines’ safety experts also conducted a refresher on the company’s critical controls against road crashes such as safe following distance and speed, fatigue and distraction management, occupant protection, and vehicle pre-trip inspection and maintenance.

To support the Holcím Group’s road safety campaign called “Stay Alert, Stay Alive,” special focus was given to the risks of driving while fatigued, which is the second leading cause of car crashes.
