The Philippine GameDev Expo (PGDX) 2026 has successfully concluded its three-day event at the SMX Convention Center. A lot of gaming enthusiasts attended the three-day event, enjoying the booths and the indie games on display. Attendees were also given the opportunity to learn more about game development through the workshops and learning sessions conducted throughout the event.
PGDX 2026 showcased many indie games created by both students and professionals. Many of the indie games featured at this year’s PGDX show great potential. Hopefully, these developers will get the support and funding they need to further improve and polish their games.
Game Developers Association of the Philippines’ (GDAP) GameOn Awards Night was also held on the first day of PGDX. Game of the Year for the School Track Category went to CTRL+OPT+OUT, which was created by students from De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde. Meanwhile, Game of the Year for the Professional Track Category was awarded to Sunnyside Deliveries, created by Courier Ducks. It is hoped that companies will sponsor future GameOn Awards to provide cash prizes for winners, which would further motivate student and professional developers to create games.
On the second day of the event, a cosplay competition was held to showcase Filipino cosplayers and their talent for portraying their favorite characters. The grand prize winner was Wolf Coser, who cosplayed as Sekiro from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. First runner-up Katiecakey portrayed Sakuko from Silent Hill f, while second runner-up Cyqira Artelle dressed as Funtime Freddy from Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location.
PGDX 2026 was a complete success, gathering a large crowd of gaming enthusiasts starting from the very first day. Every part of the event was filled with excitement and fun, especially during the raffle draws held at the close of each day.
