The Commission on Elections on the morning of August 31, 2024 received 8,640 units of Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) and other peripherals at the COMELEC Warehouse in Biñan, Laguna, in connection with the 2025 National and Local Elections and 1 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections.
Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia and Senior Officials led the inspection of the partial delivery of ACMs, witnessed by members of the media and other election stakeholders, to ensure that all items to be received are in good condition and to order immediate replacement in case of any damages.
Each delivery of ACM unit includes the ACM case, power cords and adapters, privacy screens, thermal paper rolls, devices to aid voting by Persons with Disability (PWD), paper seals and other election peripherals.
In line with the COMELEC’s thrust for transparency and inclusivity, the Biñan Warehouse has a designated viewing deck for members of the media and election watchdogs, to whom notices to observe are always given during every delivery. Accredited citizen’s arms groups Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and National Citizens’ Movement For Free Elections (NAMFREL), and civil society organization Legal Network For Truthful Elections (LENTE) were present to observe today’s second batch delivery.
To date, a running total of more than 24,000 ACMs have been delivered to COMELEC, which is set to be fully completed by end of this year for a total of 110,000 ACMs. Delivery of Satellite Internet Communication Devices by the Transmission Services provider is likewise continuous.
On the other hand, Miru has fulfilled 100% of the delivery of servers, printers, CCS laptops, plastic kit boxes and plastic seals that will be used in the canvassing of votes.
Deliveries have yet to be accepted until each hardware item had passed the Hardware Acceptance Test (HAT) which will commence on September 11, 2024.
